Why your website is so important
Visitors judge your site in the blink of an eye
Visitors to your website can make snap decisions about it in as little as 50 milliseconds - (that’s 0.05 seconds or literally the blink of an eye).
Make sure your website isn't losing you business.
(i) Attention web designers: You have 50 milliseconds to make a good first impression!
They judge on looks and first impressions last
94% of visitors base their first impression of your business purely on the design (ii).
The psychology of first impressions is well known.
The 'halo effect' is a cognitive bias where humans make a judgement based on an initial interaction which then shines across all further interactions. So a professional-looking website implies an overall professionalism in your business.
The 'anchoring effect' is a pervasive bias that leads a person to judge your whole business by an 'anchor point', in this case, your website. So a poorly designed, outdated or unclear website will lead your prospects to perceive your whole business in the same light.
(ii) The Effect of Aesthetics on Web Credibility, Farah Alsudani & Matthew Casey
75% of users judge a company's credibility based on its website design
Research from the Stanford Web Credibility project (iv) shows that 75% of users judged the company’s credibility on its website design.
Stanford University also identifies the 'trust factors' needed to increase your credibility, which we adhere to (v). In addition, we will help you comply to standards such as UK GDPR privacy legislation and cookie compliance.
(iv) How do people evaluate a website's credibility - results from a large study.
(v) Stanford Guidelines for Web Credibility - How can you boost your web site's credibility?
Google says simple and familiar works best
Google's own research found that the websites which appeal most to users are those they can recognise and categorise.
So go for simple and familiar if you want to appeal to your users’ sense of beauty.
(iii) Users love simple and familiar designs – Why websites need to make a great first impression.

02
Share your goals
In our call we'll learn about your challenges and goals. We'll talk inspiration, budget and timelines, and then share our ideas of how to address your needs.
03
A customised plan
After our meeting, we will prepare a bespoke website plan detailing what we will deliver and how it will meet your goals.
The five step design & build process
In our initial call we learn about you and your business. We discuss what your website must do in order to grow or change. We may look at any website analytics you have access to. We’ll also review your current site (if you have one), your competitors and your favourite websites for research and inspiration.
It’s often unglamorous, and may take longer than you think, but preparing great content for your website is the secret to success! We'll guide you through copywriting, and planning asset creation, such as photography or video. If you need additional copy-writing support we are also able to help
Working with your content ideas, we create a site map and wireframes to layout your website. This often helps refine what you want to say and where in your customer journey. We create colourways, typeface and imagery ideas, followed by design mockups to show how your website will look.
Once you've approved the design, we build your website using WordPress. This is a flexible and scalable platform perfect for many organisations.

- Small business websites: £1,500–£3,000

Generate qualified enquiries, sales and support business growth.
For more detail on what’s included, we can talk this through during your discovery call.
If I provide the designs, can you do the development?
Yes. We regularly work from supplied designs and can collaborate with the designer on responsive behaviour, content and interactions. Often we find that we bring in useful ideas around user behaviour that enhances performance.
How long does it take to build a new website?
Once you decide to engage our services, we are usually able to start work within a week or two.
Then it usually takes 6-12 weeks to build a website depending on size and complexity. We are interdependent with you, as you need to be available to input into page content and provide feedback at regular stages of the project.
Can you redesign my existing website?
Yes. We start by reviewing your current site and listen to what you want to do differently. We'll work with your strengths and revise weaker areas, be that design, usability, mobile design etc. We always agree with you what to retain, improve or replace before beginning.
Do you host websites too?
Yes we can do, the choice is yours.
When we host websites we ensure that your website stays updated and secure.
The basic options is critical security updates and the cost of your website software and licences. Cost £160 per year, or £20 per month, if you prefer.
The peace of mind package includes ongoing management, site uptime monitoring, updating your website security regularly, storing regular backups and giving additional support up to 15 minutes per month, which can include website edits, or help with email etc. Cost £45 per month.
For more information please see our service Website Care and Maintenance.
Can you set up custom email addresses?
Yes, absolutely.
You can choose where to host your email accounts. Some organisations prefer to keep them in one package, others prefer to use Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 for their email.
We offer a simple email hosting solution as part of your website hosting. It's a great budget option, you can have as many email addresses as you need at no extra cost. This is what we use ourselves.
We also partner with IT Support providers if you prefer to set up MS365 — useful for businesses who want to use Teams, Calendars and Workspaces for their day to day workload.
We can talk about all of this in our Discovery Call to find the right solution for you.
Can we meet face to face?
Yes! If you are local to Kingston Upon Thames, in London or Surrey, we can meet in person, and if you are not, then we can meet on video call. We find both methods are really helpful, making communication and collaboration just that little bit easier.
Do you provide training so I can take control of the site?
Yes, you can run your own updates, or we can continue to help. It's up to you. We run face-to-face training, and video training, which can be recorded for future reference. The beauty of WordPress is that it’s relatively easy to use, particularly to edit or add new content.
What platform do you use to build websites?
Our first choice is to build on WordPress. It's widely supported, flexible and scalable, and we use our library of selected professional themes and plugins to enable a wide range of functionality. We also support business owners who have sites on other platforms, like Wix or Squarespace.
Will my website be legally compliant and secure?
Yes, we make every effort to ensure that your website will be both secure and legally compliant. We do this in the following ways:
- We install CookieYes to manage your UK GDPR compliance. As a minimum this generates a cookie policy and consent bar.
- We provide generic terms and conditions and privacy policy that we can amend according to your business procedures and partners.
- We ensure that you collect the relevant permissions for future marketing efforts.
- With our website hosting and care packages we provide secure hosting, SSL/TLS certificates for encryption, overnight backups, uptime site monitoring, firewall with real-time updates and security scanning. We use Wordfence Premium licences for all our care customers.
- Even if you don't opt for a care package, you will still benefit from the free version of security software, firewall, and the best possible login security to protect your website from brute force hacking attempts.
Note: the only way that you can be sure your website will continue to be secure and compliant over the months and years is if you regularly check your website and run software updates and compliance checks, or engage with a partner to do this for you. More on this in our blog: "Why your business website can easily become a security risk."
What support is available after my site is live?
Once your site is live, it's a good idea to plan who is going to be responsible for your website health and security, and any future updates. You can do this in house, or you choose a support package, which means you can contact us for ongoing help. Please see our Website Care & Maintenance packages to see what we offer.
Or, if you simply want ad hoc support for future changes or development, or occasional troubleshooting then we are available to support at an hourly rate.
